Gain a Competitive Edge with Customized Sports Performance Training Program

Talent is just small part of what it takes to become a successful athlete! For every talented individual, there are probably several hundreds, if not thousands of other athlete just like them.

In order to really stand out from the rest, an athlete has to go beyond their regular games and practices. If they aren’t willing to put extra time and effort to gain that competitive edge, someone else will and eventually, they’ll be left behind.

That’s why sports performance training gives you that competitive advantage you’re always looking for.

Sports performance training will NOT only make you a BETTER athlete, but as you build a habit of participating in a quality training program on a day-to-day basis, you’ll eventually acquire physical tools that can take your skills to the NEXT level. Period!

Grinding around the gym all by yourself with a workout you found on YouTube or on a bodybuilding forum won’t be sufficient, though. Similarly, spending on personal coach who only makes you do isolation exercises or random exercise is just a waste of time for YOU.

On the other hand, experienced strength coaches can help you design a complete training program that is customized to fit your particular requirements and also walk you through each and every step.

Not ONLY you’ll see radical progress in speed, power, strength, agility, and balance, but you’ll also develop an overall coordination and conditioning of your body too!

There is several sports performance training programs available for you, including:

  1. Team training sessions
  2. Seasonal group sessions
  3. Pre-season conditioning camps
  4. Private sessions through appointment (usually a one-to-one coaching for both small as well as large groups)

Generic sports performance training vs. Sports specific training

The term “sports specific” gets all the hype in the strength and conditioning field while most companies or trainers offer nothing of the sort.

Sports specific training MUST include training for the development of sports specific skills. In fact, the primary focus of the “sports specific” training is enhancing the performance of an individual or a team, NOT building strength or conditioning.

The main goals of sports performance exercise is to develop speed, strength, power, agility, coordination, balance, and conditioning, while keeping the risk of injury at bay.

Besides sports like Golf and long distance running, most athletes train hard to become faster, stronger, quicker, and MORE powerful no matter which sports they play!

Even though most companies follow the general outline of the same program for all of their sports performance training (only differentiated depending upon their experience, age, and skill levels), nonetheless, there is still a great deal of individualization that goes on to meet the fitness requirement of each individual/athlete.

Prior to the beginning of the sports performance training, each athlete has to go through an extensive pre-screening process which includes:

  1. Detailed questionnaire
  2. Functional movement screen
  3. Performance testing (private sessions and small group)

Based on the pre-screening tests and results, physical limitations from previous injuries, and specific performance goals, the general sports performance training will be further customized to meet the fitness requirements of each athlete.

If the athlete decides to schedule a chunk of private training sessions with strength coaches, an even level of individualization can take place.

In the private coaching sessions, experienced coaches can even include some sports specific skill training and energy specific conditioning to your program if you need it.

In addition, they may also offer various sports specific pre-season as well as off-season training programs that may include on-field and on-ice skill development programs all year long!
